ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University is proud to announce that Seth Martens, a physical education major in the teacher education program, has been awarded the Schaefer Scholarship for the 2024 academic year. This $1,000 scholarship, named in honor of the late educator Gloria Schaefer, is awarded annually to one junior or senior attending a South Dakota college.

This year, organizers have introduced new options for parade float registrations, including premium and mid-level placements. Register before Aug. 31 to take advantage of the most affordable rates. Prices will increase after this date, with the final deadline to register being Sept. 15.

Northern State University Alumna Emily Schumacher Crowned Miss Minnesota

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University is proud to announce that Emily Schumacher, a 2022 Honors Graduate, has been crowned Miss Minnesota 2024. The prestigious title was awarded after a rigorous three-day competition held at Treasure Island Resort & Casino, culminating on Friday, June 21.

Representing Miss Mankato, Schumacher outshone 18 other contestants, securing a $10,000 scholarship and the opportunity to represent Minnesota in the 2025 Miss America¡­

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University proudly announces that its swim team has been recognized as a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for the spring 2024 semester. The team achieved an impressive cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.83, ranking them second among NCAA Division II schools and tying them for sixth place across all NCAA divisions.
